Is this event beginner friendly?
Yes! For many players, this is their first time playing in an organized disc golf event. We pride ourselves in welcoming newer players and helping them learn the great sport of disc golf!
Can I sign up the day of the event?
Yes! Many players wait until the day of the event to sign up. We do encourage players to sign up early to guarantee themselves player pack. You can register online here. If registering in person, please bring cash. We do not accept check or credit card, and there is no ATM onsite.
I don't have anyone else to play with. Can I still participate?
Of course! We always have individuals and partners looking for additional players. We ask that you check in before 11am so we can pair you with other players. Disc golf is a great way to make new friends! Cards of less than three players are still allowed, but will not qualify for prizes.
What do the different division names mean?
We use the same division names as the Professional Disc Golf Association. For an explainer on the divisions, see: A Beginner's Guide to PDGA Divisions on the PDGA website.
Why don't you sanction this tournament with the PDGA?
The simple answer is it allows us added flexibility in a few areas (such as allowing players to pair up with their friends/family). Our tournament does follow most PDGA guidelines, and we are considering running a sanctioned event in the future.
Why don't you have [insert division name]?
We began this event with a "keep it simple" mindset, and only offered 5 divisions in 2023. Each year we've added more divisions based on player feedback. If there is a division you would like to see that we don't currently offer, please contact us.
How exactly does this event raise money for the Park Falls Recreation Arena?
The tournament raises funds in multiple ways. Five dollars from each player's entry fee, and ten dollars from each basket sponsor is collected for the Arena. 100% of basket raffle ticket sales are also collected for the Arena. There is a 50/50 ace pool in which half of the winnings are awarded to the Arena when a player scores an ace. Additionally, any prize money that had been allocated to divisions that aren't filled is donated to the Arena. Any profits made from the sale of extra player pack items are also donated. Lastly, volunteers from the Arena sell concessions at the event to help raise additional funds as well.
